Welcome to Ritsumeikan University! With three main campuses located in the neighboring historic Kyoto, bustling Osaka, and quaint Shiga prefectures, over 36,000 students (including over 3100 international students!) from across Japan and around the world call Ritsumeikan University their home away from home. With bachelor programs in International Relations, Regional Policy and Planning, and Information Systems Science and Engineering, as well as dual and joint degree programs including our Global Liberal Arts Dual Degree Program with Australia National University and our College of International Relations’ American University-Ritsumeikan University Joint Degree Program, all of which are offered entirely in English, students coming out of high school have plenty opportunity to pursue their own unique field of interest. At the graduate level, university grads have even more to choose from with master’s and doctoral programs in Science and Engineering, Economics, Life Sciences, International Relations, Policy Science, Information Science, and Technology Management all offered and taught entirely in English. Our multicultural faculty hail from all walks of life and corners of the world, with life-time academics joined by field experts, former engineers from major manufacturing and technology firms, policy makers, banking executives, and everything in between. Many of our faculty, particularly of those colleges and graduate schools mentioned above, are currently active in providing expert advice to various government panels, or working under the umbrella of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or with international agencies to provide expert guidance and assistance abroad. The breadth of specialties of our faculty and their depth of knowledge and experience, coupled with our well stocked and state-of-the-art research facilities, allows our students to pursue their academic interests wherever those interests may take them.
